Purpose
This diagnostic recommends a starting level. It is not a gate, certification, or personality test.
Instructions
For the path you selected, answer each scenario with a short explanation and attach evidence when requested. Use the scoring guide after completing all items.
Shared scenarios
1. Explain an AI-enabled product
Choose an AI product you have used or observed. Explain the user-facing product, likely model or AI capability, data or context, connected tools, and human role. Mark what you know, infer, and cannot verify.
2. Judge AI fit
A colleague wants AI to make a consequential decision because it will be faster. What questions must be answered before deciding whether AI should be involved?
3. Improve an interaction
An AI assistant returned a vague response to “Make this better.” Rewrite the request and explain which added context matters.
4. Verify a result
An AI system provides a confident statistic with no source. Describe how you would verify it and what you would do if the original source cannot be found.
5. Evaluate quality
Define at least four criteria for judging an AI-assisted output in your selected path. Explain which criterion matters most and why.
6. Handle responsibility
The task contains sensitive personal or organizational information. Explain what you would check before entering it into an AI system and identify a safer alternative.
7. Design oversight
Describe where a human must review, approve, or intervene in one AI-supported task. Include an exception or escalation condition.
8. Investigate something new
You encounter a claim that a new AI tool can complete an entire professional workflow autonomously. Outline a small, safe test and the evidence required before adoption.
Path-specific evidence
- AIF: Explain and evaluate an unfamiliar AI claim.
- PROD: Show one improved task with before/after evidence.
- WFD: Map one recurring workflow and its exceptions.
- LDR: Create a short opportunity, risk, and readiness brief.
- BLD: Show a small AI-enabled prototype or technical design with tests.
- ENB: Diagnose a learning or adoption need and propose an intervention.
Scoring guide
Score each response from 0–3:

| 0 | Missing, unsafe, or fundamentally inaccurate |
| 1 | Basic recognition; depends heavily on supplied guidance |
| 2 | Sound independent reasoning in a familiar situation |
| 3 | Systems-level reasoning, explicit trade-offs, tests, and transfer |
Placement recommendation
- Mostly 0–1: begin at Foundation.
- Mostly 2: begin at Practitioner; review flagged Foundation modules.
- Mostly 3 with credible evidence: begin at Advanced; complete the Practitioner project if portfolio evidence is missing.
- Mixed results: begin with the weakest capability rather than averaging away an important gap.
High scores do not override serious safety, verification, or accountability gaps.
