Overlays

Overlays

Status: Temporary · replaceable · not curriculum

What this is

Product- and tool-specific notes. Current recommended tools, prompt patterns that are tied to a specific interface, known limitations of today's models. This section exists so the durable curriculum stays clean.

The rule

The core judgment content does not depend on any specific tool or model. Decision filters, verification habits, ownership, and net value transfer across every interface. If an overlay ever contradicts a core module, the core wins — the overlay is wrong, not the curriculum.

What goes here

  • Current recommended tools and why they are recommended today
  • Prompt patterns that are specific to a tool's interface
  • Known limitations of current interfaces (and the workaround for each)
  • Gotchas that expire with the next model release

What does not go here

  • Lessons. The moment an overlay starts teaching, it is in the wrong place.
  • Evergreen judgment content. That lives in the packs and stays there.
  • Anything that would survive a tool change. That is core material by definition.

Review cadence

Every overlay carries an owner and a next review date — no more than 90 days out. A page with no review date is a page that is already lying to you.

  • At review: is it still true of the current tool? If yes, set the next date. If no, update it. If the tool is gone, delete the page. Deleting is success.

The guardrail

This section does not grow into another full curriculum track. One page per tool, thin, temporary. When an overlay outlives its usefulness, it gets deleted — not promoted.
